WTF?
Harping on freedom
So far, 2008 has been a rough year for freedom-ofinformation access in Canada. In May, the feds killed the Coordination of Access to Information Requests System, an electronic list of nearly every filed access-to-information request. Then in June, the Federal Court ruled that access-to- information laws don’t cover some records created by ministers’ aides if those records are in the hands of the Prime Minister’s Office or the offices of cabinet ministers. We can’t help but wonder what’s next—not allowing access to any documents that contain the word “Harper”?
