007 proms- a wise choice?

It's hard to visualize James Bond as hes been portrayed by any of the six actors whove played him over the years going to high school, let alone to a grad prom. This didnt deter school councils across the country from choosing a Bond theme for this year's rave-up. Agent 007--2007. Get it?

At Porter Creek Secondary School in Whitehorse it was Casino Royale time. For Holy Trinity in Oakville, Ontario, and Souris Regional High in P.E.I. it was just 007. At Humberview in Bolton, Ontario, the theme was Diamonds Are Forever. Happily, Octopussy seems to have been a no-go.

There were some dissenting voices about the Bond message. One teen told the Toronto Star: "You cannot pull off this theme without relating it to guns, violence, sex, gambling, etc. Its like we are telling teens on prom night to get violent and have sex."

Another prom goer was more approving: "I dont think people are going to be, like, 'OK, Im going to go shoot up people.' They're going to be more, like, 'I get to wear a nice suit and people are going to notice me.' I'm going to be the James Bond of the night.' I dont really care about the theme. I just want to get drunk."
