Blog Log: Journalism
A window into the wonderful but overwhelming world of the blogosphere. This time around: journalism blogs

In a media landscape where journalists are overworked and a few massive companies own most news outlets, it’s good to know there are bloggers keeping an eye on the industry.
D.B. Scott and Jon Spencer seem to know every little nook and cranny of Canada’s magazine scene. Their Canadian Magazine blog doesn’t look like much, but it has great nuggets about the state of the industry.
The Thunderbird, the UBC School of Journalism’s blog, which only publishes during the school year, should be back online this month. Last year, UBC students avidly tracked media coverage of Vancouver’s mayoral race. The site also offers some great podcasts and written work from some of Canada’s best new journalists.
During the CBC lockout, Tod Maffin kept us enthralled with his CBC Unplugged blog. Maffin now runs Inside the CBC, the broadcaster’s official blog. It isn’t just press releases and platitudes either—some of the more contentious posts give you insight into the hearts and minds of the men and women who make your CBC work. And always worth a read is Toronto Star media columnist Antonia Zerbisias’s blog at http://thestar.com/azerb.
