Thank You

BY Hugh Thomas

This poem may come as a surprise to you
since I do not know your name.

Thank you for your kind offer
of 20 percent of 26 million dollars
which we will split 50-50.

My father too
died in an insurrection
embezzled government funds
loved soccer
loved his wife and children
and did what he must for their protection.

I would like to meet you face to face
to talk about sports and our fathers
to build a solid foundation for confidence
but I am confined to this page.
That is why you must help me.

When you are finished reading
please sign your name
at the bottom of this poem
and pass it on.
